Tutoring Business Reports

Overview:

As an assignment in my Management Information Systems class, I was tasked with updating a tutoring log to reflect subjects taught, time tutored, and the monetary amount earned by the session.

What I learned:

I learned how to create pivot tables
- I can use pivot tables in the future to summarize and make sense of large data sets
I also learned how to create graphs in Excel
- This skill can be used to create visual aides for reports in the future.

What I would do differently:

Rather than representing the data in bar graphs, I would organize the graphical data in a pie graph to make it easier to analyze the percentage the revenue brought in by each subject

Soteriology Mini Project

Overview:

I created a five week lesson plan that was intended to teach the doctrine of salvation to 3 & 4 year olds at my church. Each week's lesson included a a worship song that related to the topic being taught, an animated powerpoint lesson, an activity/craft, and a memory verse for the week.

What I learned:

During this project I learned how to add media such as music and videos into presentations.
- This skill can be used to make future business presentations more engaging for my audiences.
I also learned that visuals are more effective than having words on a screen.
- When creating future presentations, I will limit my usage of text, only incorporating it when it is necessary to understand a concept.

What I would do differently:

If I were to create another 5 week curriculum, I would incorporate more time for explanation of concepts. While teaching this curriculum, I would often run into the activity time when trying to explain concepts in a way that made sense to the age group I was teaching.

1960's Election Tableau Visualization

Overview:

I was provided with data sets regarding the outcome of the 1960's presidential election and tasked with creating graphs and other visual representations of the data in the program tableau.

What I learned::

This project taught me how to interpret the different dimensions and measures of a dataset.
- This will help me be .able to create visual representations more quickly and accurately in the the future.
This project also taught me that one data set can provide a variety of information.
- By utilizing different means of data visualization, we can present the data in different ways that help us make sense of the information provided by the data.

What I would do differently:

If I were to complete this assignment agin, I would want to make better use of my color shemes in order to make the visuals more legible. I would also want to rearrange the graphs so that they would be larger and easier to read/understand.
